Transcribe Videos Without Leaving the Page

The web app works from a pasted link. The extension removes even that step. Open a video on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, or Facebook, and a floating Transcribe button appears on the page. Click it and the transcript loads in your browser's side panel, next to the video you are watching.

From the side panel you can read and scroll the full text, generate an AI summary with key points and chapters, and ask follow-up questions with Ask AI on a paid plan. Everything you transcribe is saved to your Scrivi account, so it is waiting in the web app later on any device.

Scrivi is published in the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store, so Edge users do not need to install anything from the Chrome Web Store. Open the Scrivi listing in Edge Add-ons, click Get, and confirm. The Transcribe button, the side panel, summaries, and Ask AI all work exactly as they do in Chrome.

There is no Firefox version of the extension at the moment. If Firefox is your main browser, use the Scrivi web app at scrivi.app instead: paste the video link and you get the same transcript, summary, and export options. Your history is shared between the web app and the extension, so nothing gets lost when you switch browsers.

The extension is best when you discover videos while browsing and want the text right there, without switching tabs.

The button shows up on video pages from the five platforms Scrivi supports. It detects them automatically, so there is nothing to configure.

The side panel shows the full transcript as clean, continuous text. It does not auto-scroll along with the video and does not highlight the line being spoken.
